The purpose of the CASF is to directly enrich the instructional environment, providing materials, equipment, student support services, and other extended learning opportunities.  CASF promotes teacher innovation, creation and multiple student learning pathways.

The CASF funds a mini-grant program at Centaurus, where representatives from each academic department, administration, and the parent community decide which requests to fund.

Everyone Benefits

Former recipient teachers share what they have been able to provide due to your incredible generosity! Some examples of items/experiences purchased are below:

Katie Thomas shared, “This year, the CASF grants made an incredible impact on the students in our Individualized Learning Center (ILC), a program that serves 30 students with intellectual disabilities, autism, and significant health needs. Your support has helped create a more inclusive and empowering learning environment for the most impacted students in our school community.  The CASF funds allowed us to fully stock our life skills kitchen with updated and accessible cooking tools and supplies. Students learned to follow recipes, measure ingredients, manage time, and work collaboratively.  These are critical vocational and daily living skills that promote long-term independence and well-being.”

Christine Ferguson stated, “The CASF Grant was used to purchase writable-surface desks for the math classroom (Mr. Senseney's room). These new desks have significantly enhanced student engagement and collaboration. Students were excited to use the writable surfaces and quickly began using them to work through problems. The ability to write directly on the desks has encouraged students to take more risks in problem-solving, share their thinking openly, and explore multiple strategies for approaching complex math concepts.”

Catherine Barnes and the Engineering team stated, “The CASF funds supported enriching field trip experiences in Engineering. Cybersecurity students toured Google and participated in a panel discussion with programmers, gaining valuable industry insights. Computer Science students visited feeder elementary schools to promote interest in the Hour of Code program, inspiring younger students in coding. Additionally, we hosted 5th graders from Pioneer Elementary at Centaurus, giving them a tour of the engineering program and school, followed by lunch together in our cafeteria!”

Ms. Mohrhardt stated, “My students' photography has taken such an amazing leap forward with the purchase of good quality DSLR cameras to learn on."

Mrs. Weironski purchased physical copies of novels for her IB classes to accompany the online platforms and reported over a 20% increase in student engagement with the text, stating that the physical copy, “ broke down reading barriers and increased rigor” for her students

Ms. Deming will take IB students to a museum visit this spring.

Ms. Steensen shared that “CASF has transformed my Biology classroom into a hands-on, inquiry-driven space. With CASF-funded modeling kits, even the most abstract concepts become accessible. Thanks to CASF-funded probes and biotechnological tools, students don’t just learn about science—they do science. They design experiments, collect high-quality data, and engage with Biology like real scientists!”

Coach Hampton purchased PLT4M, and it “is already having an impact on our weight training classes and athletes.  The features the program offers have blended old school with modern tech, making our space much more practical for today’s learner.”

Ms. McDermott shared, “Students in IB Environmental Systems and Societies class were able to measure nitrate levels from various local water sources. They were also able to measure soil moisture content and how that can affect seed germination rates. “

Mrs. McCueoffered, “We took a field trip to Front Range Community College, and students dropped into active college classes. Several seniors on that trip were inspired to enroll in English classes and began attending FRCC in the summer session right after graduation! Watching students move seamlessly into college after graduation was due largely to the trip CASF paid for.  I am grateful to CASF”.

Mr. Mayrberger said, “I’m incredibly grateful for the Everyday Speech Social Emotional Curriculum, which has provided me with high-quality, ready-to-use curriculum tailored specifically for my special education students. It’s been a game-changer in helping me meet their unique learning needs. The materials are thoughtfully designed, accessible, and engaging, allowing my students to build confidence, develop essential skills, and make meaningful progress.”

Mrs. Dunbar’s students shared, “Thank you for paying for our Nearpod License! I learn better visually and these lessons are a good way for me to retain information.; Thank you for Nearpod, It makes me enjoy learning and express my creativity; I love how the images allow the class to be open about ideas and funny without people's judgement; We all get to laugh together, communicate and learn in a way that is interesting for us; Thank you so much, using nearpod was a great way to stay engaged when I'm learning; This is the best part of English where we can share what we think and laugh together!”

Mrs.Kouraney stated,The addition of the new books to our classroom library have a lasting impact on my Spanish students. Having access to a wider variety of authentic Spanish texts will give them more opportunities to read for both pleasure and learning. These books will allow students to explore different cultures, perspective s, and voices from the Spanish-speaking world, which is essential for their language growth and intercultural understanding. By engaging with these new resources, my students will strengthen their vocabulary, improve their reading skills, and develop deeper connections to the topics we study in class.

Mrs. Lieberman offered, “This generous funding has afforded our students the invaluable opportunity to participate in a college fair, where they engaged with representatives from over 50 colleges and universities, attended a highly informative financial aid presentation, and listened to impactful stories from former AVID students and educators. Additionally, students had the unique opportunity to attend a Denver Nuggets game, an experience that, for many, marked their first time at a professional athletic event. Your continued support has made a meaningful difference in the lives of our students, and we extend our sincere appreciation to the community for its unwavering commitment to educational access and opportunity.”
